
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Ying has been kidnapped by Shanghai police. Ying’s mother is calling for international support for the safe return of her daughter.

700 members of Destiny Church have made a convenant with the Bishop Brian Tamaki. Tamaki says that the procedures are ‘respectful’. Richard Lewis drafted the convenant and says that ‘any organisation with longevity in mind needs protocols’.
Cultwatch spokesperson Mark Vrankovich likens Destiny Church’s covenant to that made by followers of the Heaven’s Gate cult.
‘Destiny Church is not a Christian church following Jesus Christ, it is a church following Brian Tamaki who is a man that claims to be the mouth piece of God’ he says.

A French court has branded the Church of Scientology as a ‘organised fraud unit’. The church has been fined 600,000 euros ($1.2m) for preying financially on vulnerable believers.
